All-new 2008 Jeep Cherokee Provides High Level of Safety and Security

The all-new Jeep Cherokee 2008 offers the latest safety and security features to transport passengers no matter what their destination and whether for business or  pleasure.  Features like ESP, Hill Descent Control, Hill Start Assist and side airbags are just a few of the refinements that make the Cherokee the ideal choice for today's active families.

New for the Jeep Cherokee Limited and offered as standard is "Hill Descent Control (HDC)".  Operational in the "4WD Low" position, HDC provides downhill assistance at a controlled rate of speed. By means of electronic brake control, HDC supplements the gear reduction and engine braking that a traditional mechanical low-range transfer case provides. 

For ease of operation, Cherokee's HDC is activated and deactivated automatically, after the HDC button is engaged, as the system senses changes in the terrain.  The system works whether the vehicle in forward or reverse.

Another new feature for Jeep Cherokee is "Hill Start Assist (HSA)".  Standard on all Cherokee Limited models, this feature allows the driver time to transition from brake to throttle to achieve a smooth launch on a grade… a great feature to have in traffic. 

The system will hold brake pressure for two seconds upon the driver's release of the brake pedal.  The Anti-lock Brake System (ABS) system decreases wheel pressure in response to increasing throttle to provide a smooth launch.

Adding to Jeep Cherokee's long list of standard safety and security features are the ParkSense® Rear Back-up System which assists at low speeds while the vehicle is in reverse to detect stationary objects and consists of visible (interior lights seen with rearview mirror) and audible warnings for the driver, advanced multi-stage airbags,  all-speed traction control, auto-reverse sunroof and windows (that reverse if they meet obstacles), crumple zones and a Side Occupant Protection System (which includes side-curtain air bags with multiple sensors to offer rollover protection), to name but a few.
