UAE & Iran Launch New Drive To Boost Motor Sport
Iranian Ambassador to the UAE Dr Hamid Asefi has pledged to lift the restriction on motoring tourists travelling to the Islamic Republic.
The Ambassador was part of an official Iranian delegation taking part in a meeting hosted by Emirates Automobile and Touring Club (EATC) to form a new working relationship aimed at reinforcing links between UAE and Iran in motor sport and tourism.
The initiative, driven by Mohammed Ben Sulayem, President EATC is expected to pave way for drivers and riders from the two countries to compete against each other in a wide range of national motor sport events, and eventually see Iran host a round of the FIA Middle East Rally Championship.
The Iranian delegation was headed by the Motorcycle and Automobile Federation of the Islamic Republic of Iran (MAFIRI) President Ahmad Ghalebani, and also included its Vice President Hossein Shahriari, and Dr Saleh Kouh, President of MAFIRI’S classic car department.
