Miriam’s (sebou) shoots declined

Shereen Abdel Wahab, singer star, has just declined a once-in-a-lifetime offer from a satellite station to exclusively shoot Miriam’s, her new born, sebou’ ( meaning “seventh” -  a traditional ceremony for one-week olds).

Approached by station’s most celebrated host – also a confidante of most singer stars and eyebrow raiser over her controversial dances with female and male singers she frequently hosts – Shereen was surprised. 

Though free to decide her bucks to shoot Miriam’s sebou’ in full Shereen persisted: “I’ll do what it takes and make sure Miriam is away from all that, now or later. That may cause her a lot of trouble.”

Many actors and singers have already treaded Shereen’s path. Mona Zaki – and her husband Ahmed Helmy; himself an actor – for example, declined a plethora of offers to involve Lili, their daughter, in any projects. Hanan Turk declined an offer for Youssef, her son, in a movie starring a female superstar before she quit and put on hijab. “I didn’t mean her. I meant them [her sons] to stay away from limelight – be it with me or anyone else.”
