Mona Zaki never identified as a Safeyya!

Qadeyyet Safeyya (Safeyya’s Case), a new TV soap opera that will be shot starting next week, has become, it seems, a case of throwing names out there amongst insiders and in celebrity gossip during its pre-production.

Widely circulated rumors had it that Mona Zaki had landed the lead role, but then kept hold of the copy of the screenplay for two years, only to end up asking for a better-paying contract. According to the hearsay, the request was dismissed by the producer. The only thing we know for sure is that the script was eventually offered to Mayy Ezz Eddin.

Sources told Masrawy that it was Hanan Turk who declined the role. According to the sources, Zaki was never considered for the lead. However, it is now verified that Ezz Eddin is the leading actress.
Co-starring Maged el Kedwani, Ahmad Khalil and Salah Abdallah, the serial’s budget is put at LE 1 million. 
The serial is set in a rural village located off Cairo-Alexandria Agricultural Road, created by Adel el Maghrabi, the set decorator.

Written by Ayman Salama and directed by Ahmad Shafiq, Qadeyyet Safeyya also features lyrics by Ahmad Fouad Nigm, set to music by Yasser Abdel Rahman.
