A cloud of severe sadness has been settling above the heads of the great comedian Saeed Saleh since his career-mate, the beloved comedian Younes Shalabi, passed away. The couple had participated in more than 50 movies together in addition to the play they had took parts in such as "Madrasat El Moshaghebeen" and "El 'Iyal Kebret". Their last work together was the series "Ahlam Mo'aggala" in which Younes Shalabi had not finished filming all his scenes.
Among the cast are many actors and actresses whom we had never seen working together before on top of them are Layla Taher, Waheed Seif, Mazhar Abou El Naga, Al Montasser Billah, Mohammed Fareed, Sabry Abdul Men'em, Ayda Riad, Jihan Amari, Taher El Nahri, Mohammed Karim, Do'ae Nagi, Mohammed Abou El Hassan, Khaled Mahmoud, Suleiman Eid, Fatima EL Kashef, Amira Nayef, Ahmed Zaher, the public singer Sha'eban Abdul Raheem, the young singer Samah, and others.
In a private statement to us, Saeed Saleh –as the tears ran from his eyes- said that Younes Shalabi's death has caused him instability, and -quoting him- "although we all know that our destiny is to go one day, it's still hard for any person who has lost a very dear person to him to pull himself together, especially that my friendship with Younes Shalabi goes back more than 40 years, so it is very hard to forget him." and obviously the sadness cloud will be hanging above his head for quite sometime to come.
Saleh added: although Younes Shalabi had been fighting illness for many years, he never lost hope in getting well and back on his feet again to meet his fans and that was what he went after in "Ahlam Mo'aggala" where he thought that his comeback to his audience will surely give help him clutch to hope and that was what happened until his last retrogression and we all believe that he was going to get through that storm like he had always done, only that fate took him away mercifully.
As for what has been going around about the intention of the production company of "Ahlam Mo'aggala", in which Younes Shalabi got back infront of the rolling cameras after a long time away, to omit the scenes he filmed and get another actor to do them instead, Saeed Saleh assured that it was all only a false rumor and that it will never happen because the fans have all the right to see the last of this star's works and he also said that he will work with the writer Hashem Qaysiyya, the scenarist Hamdi Youssef, and the director Hamdi El Abrashi, on creating a dramatic twist which will help them keep Younes Shalabi's scenes as are exactly.
It's essential to note that Younes Shalabi had been saying in his last days that the people who asked about him on a constant basis were Saeed Saleh, Hadi El Giyar, Mazhar Abou El Naga, and he started –as kind village people do- to find excuses for his fellow actors who did not bother to ask about him the past few years, saying that life puts people in very hard circumstances and that it was probably their life issues and children who were keeping them from staying in touch with him.
The comedian Younes Shalabi had said goodbye to this world at around the age of 62 in The Arab Contractors Hospital after he had a stroke in his brain other than the old stroke he suffered from for many years, and his body was moved to his homeland Mansoura where he was buried in his family's burial ground.
