Amy Winehouse goes to court in Norway

Troubled British soul singer Amy Winehouse is due to appear in court in Norway to appeal her drug conviction. She was arrested (with her husband and hairdresser) for possession of seven grams of marijuana and held overnight, they were released the next day after paying fines of $715 on Oct. 18, and continued on a European tour.

She will appear before the court on February 29 to launch her appeal, Bergen police said. "I can confirm that she must appear in court," Bergen police spokeswoman Liv Karlsen said. "If one appeals a conviction, it's the rule that one has to appear in person, so this is not surprising."

The singer has claimed she was tricked by police into signing a confession but Mr Christoffersen insisted police were “very certain the three knew what they were signing''.

Police insist Winehouse had a translator with her at the time and she was fully aware of what she was signing.

Amy's lawyer revealed the singer was concerned the conviction 'could affect her ability to work in the US', and subsequently the Rehab singer, husband Blake Fielder-Civil and their companion are all appealing the charge.

Winehouse is hoping to travel to Los Angeles in February for the Grammy Awards after receiving six nominations.

She has received nominations for album of the year, for Back to Black as well as for record and song of the year for the self-referential hit single, Rehab, about her refusal to enter treatment.
