The country singer - who is expecting his first child with his actress wife Nicole Kidman - told a cheering crowd at Baltimore's Arena that he was more than ready for parenthood.

Keith - who is currently on his 'Love, Pain and the Whole Crazy Carnival Ride Tour' - said: "I'm going to be a dad soon, and it only took me 40 years!"

Keith then accepted a purple and black Baltimore Raves onesie - also known as a babygro - from a fan, which he hung on his microphone when he sang 'Somebody Like You'.

Later in the show, Keith sat down at the keyboard and dedicated his song 'Got It Right This Time' to "my extraordinary wife".

This is not the first time Keith has publicly paid tribute to Nicole, who is six months pregnant, with the love ballad.

During a pre-Valentine's Day concert at New York's Madison Square Garden he dedicated the tune to his absent wife, who was in Australia.

He told the crowd: "It's Valentine's Day here tomorrow, but today it's already Valentine's Day in Australia."

Keith recently revealed he is planning on writing a song to dedicate to his first child when 'Moulin Rouge' star Nicole gives birth in July, adding: "It has been a really beautiful journey."
