PRS for Music, a UK-based association dealing with rights management for musicians and record labels, is launching a campaign to encourage children to learn to play a musical instrument from an early age. Sting is actively supporting this initiative, which is based on a survey that reveals that 70% of adults regret not having learnt to play the piano, guitar, violin, etc. The ex-Police singer commented: "If you get the chance to learn an instrument when you're young, take it, as who knows where it will lead you. Music and song writing can be great and rewarding careers."

The campaign has also gained support from the composer of the "Eastenders" theme tune, Simon May, who says that "learning an instrument gives [kids] an opportunity to tap into their creativity and have some fun!"
