Fares Karam is holding work sessions with Egyptian lyricists. This made everyone wonder if the exclusively Lebanese folk singer will compromise his commitment for the sake of wider pan-Arab popularity.

Karam said his pursuit for a reasonable and unique adaptation formula is why he shied away from Egyptian dialect so far.

Singing in Egyptian dialect is a kind of tradition for all Arab singers, no matter what their nationalities are, but in the recent decade a new Arabian Gulf dialect offshoot in terms of regionally distributed albums by mainstream Arab non Gulf pop singers were forcefully introduced.

Karam is among those carrying the field of pure Lebanese lyric. Najwa Karam is another remarkable example.
